New PowerSlam Hammer
Tacker Takes A Whacking And Keeps On Tacking June 29, 2005 – East Greenwich, RI–
BOSTITCH unveiled today its most notable glutton for punishment –
the model PC2K PowerSlam hammer tacker – in an effort to earn
a permanent place in the professional contractor’s tool belt.
Senior Global Product Manager Gary Blanchette said, “Until
now, contractors have considered hammer tackers to be nothing
more than
‘throw away’ tools. The PC2K is a different story however
… from its extreme durability to ergonomic comfort, this tool
meets every expectation a contractor could place on the ideal hammer
tacker.”
BOSTITCH achieved the PC2K’s surprising durability thanks to
features such as a heavy duty die-cast frame and reinforced sides.
As a result, it can survive a host of jobsite abuses including a fall
from the second story of a building. The unit’s internal components
are equally essential to long-life performance. For example, both
the nose and magazine are heat-treated to last well beyond the stamped
metal design of competitive units.
The new PowerSlam features an anti-jam mechanism so effective that
users can often drive staples directly on top of each other without
experiencing a jam. Even if the occasional jam occurs, users can expel
it in a matter of seconds by flipping the unit over and striking the
head against a hard surface.
Weighing only 2.2 pounds, the PC2K touts ergonomic excellence with
a non-slip comfort grip and long-awaited knuckle saver handle to avoid
the pain of smashed fingers and scratched knuckles.
The PC2K’s high capacity magazine stores up to two sticks of
staples (168 staples) ranging from a 1/4" to 3/8" long.
Its fast bottom-loading mechanism and reload indicator helps the user
minimize reloading downtime while monitoring the staple count with
only a glance. Unlike competitive hammer tackers, the PowerSlam’s
fixed pusher doesn’t fall out, which eliminates the risk of
losing it on the jobsite.
Currently available in the market, the PC2K PowerSlam
is expected to retail for approximately $59. The unit accepts PowerCrown
staples, which feature a superior arched crown design that forces
the legs of the staple outward as it drives down into the work. This
effect eliminates the slop that causes generic staples to buckle.
PowerCrown staples consistently drive flush and in even the hardest
materials with relative ease.
