Frequently Asked Questions
-
I accidentally oiled my oil-less tool. Will this void my warranty?
No, not necessarily. However, if the oil used directly caused a failure due to the fact that a corrosive/detergent oil was used or excessive quantities of oil were used, the warranty may be voided. (This would be true for tools that require lubrication as well.) In no event, however, does Bostitch's warranty cover damage or staining to the work caused by oil. Do you have an MSDS for the Magnalube Teflon grease used in your Nailers?

Can I control how deep my BT1855K brad nailer drives the brad?
Yes, the tool has a Dial-A-Depth fastener control feature. The fastener control adjustment allows from flush to work surface to shallow or deep countersink.
The DIAL-A-DEPTH™ Fastener control adjustment feature provides close control of the fastener drive depth: from flush with the work surface to shallow or deep countersink.
First set the air pressure for consistent drive in the specific work as described
on page 4, then use the DIAL-A-DEPTH™ fastener control adjustment to give the desired depth of drive.
See attached for further instructions.

Does Bostitch offer a pneumatic tool to install tongue and groove siding?
Yes, the model N62FNK-2, 15 gauge angle finish nailer can be used to install tongue and groove siding. The angle magazine allows the tool to be maneuvered into tight areas allowing you to drive the nail into the tongue at the appropriate angles. We also offer stainless steel and aluminum nails that should be used when installing cedar and redwood materials, which is an important consideration. We also offer a special tip for the N62FNK-2 to allow for accurate nail placement into the tongue. This tip is included in a special kit with several specialty tips. Order the kit product number TIPPAK1. -
What Bostitch nails are used in the GFN1564K?
The 15 gauge angled finish nails to be used in the GFN1564K are the Bostitch FN1500 series nails. These are available in various lengths from 1-1/4” to 2-1/2”. These are the same nails that are used in other Bostitch Finish nailers, the N60FN, N62FN, and N62FNK-2. -
DA vs FN finish nails & tools
The main difference between the DA & FN styles is the nail itself & the angle of the magazine.
The DA style nails have a "D-shaped" head, that is actually what the D stands for in the model # and the A means angle. This tool (DA1564K) is new as of 2012 and was long awaited, as we have been making the nails to go with it for many years.
Nails for both the DA1564K or N62FNK-2 (our current FN angled finish nailer) are a 15 gauge, but the magazine is different. Angled at 25 degrees on the N62FN and 34 degrees on the DA1564.There is also the FN1664K which is a 16 GA straight finish nailer. These nails are different as well.
